Scope: With the opportunity to be a valued contributor on a diverse and elite team of professional Engineers, our respected Process Engineer will share their knowledge and experience to ensure the success of the Froth Treatment plant, as well as the Tailings Pond, in Bitumen Production.
Key Area of Contribution: • Use scientific methods to determine the root cause of problems and support activities to develop solutions; and • Support all activities to reduce the water in the Dillbit fed to Upgrading, as well as reduce Diluent losses in Tailings.
Main Duties & Responsibilities: • Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance; • Monitor plant performance with operations and maintenance support; • Support the operator training simulator; • Support De-bottlenecking activities; • Monitor plant performance and rapidly trouble shoot any problems; • Support regulatory and environmental samplings and reporting; • Identify, screen and develop proposals to improve plant recovery, reliability, and safety; • Support and participate in major sustaining and capital projects; and • Experience with PI, 8 Hysys, Ideas Simulation is preferred.
Qualifications for the Position Education and Experience: • Degree in Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering; • Eligible for Registration as a Professional engineer in Alberta; • 3 years of direct oil sand experience or 5-10 years as a Process Engineer in a mineral processing plant, mining or related industry; • Solid plant engineering and operating experience; and • A proven track record in optimizing process plants, managing projects and budgets.
Personal Qualities: • Flexible to consider new ways of looking at issues; • Willing to share your vast knowledge, yet equally willing to listen to your team members and take their ideas into account; • Successful at communicating in multi discipline teams, such as Operations, Maintenance and Project teams; • Upbeat, with a positive attitude and an easy going nature; and • Able to expedite issues in a large multi-discipline team towards resolution.
Health, Safety and Environment: • Comply with all Health and Safety requirements established by Canadian Natural Resources Limited; • Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the province of Alberta and environmental standards; • Follow safe work procedures and ensure all personnel comply; • Report any injury or illness immediately; • Report unsafe acts and conditions; and • Ensure personal protective equipment is available and is worn where and when required.
