POSITION SUMMARY

Function/Purpose:




The Environmental Services Administrative Clerk is responsible for handling a wide variety and heavy volume of customer inquiries and providing assistance and dispatching for Environmental Services filed personnel via the two-way radio system. As well, this position is responsible for entering a high volume of data on-line, such as daily and biweekly timesheets, creating and receiving purchase orders, customer invoicing, job costing, commercial solid waste contracts, and inventory issues.




Job Requirements:



  • Grade 12, supplemented with additional computer and/or accounting courses, equivalent to first year Business Administration Diploma.




  • 1 year experience performing general administrative and accounting duties including records management, preferably in a municipal organization.




  • 1 year experience entering and verifying information in on-line payroll system. Payroll time entry experience in a union environment would be an asset. Preference will be given to those with experience with Infinium HR software.




  • Ability to work independently using initiative to complete projects and prioritize duties and workload efficiency in a multi-tasking environment.




  • Competent with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Access and Publisher. Knowledge of basic office procedures and equipment.




  • Experience with on-line entry of purchase orders, customer invoices, inventory transactions and work orders would be an asset. Preference will be given to those with experience with JDEdwards enterprise software.




  • Ability to communicate courteously and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with staff and public, often with considerable distraction. Ability to recognize the priority of calls and requests from the field and the public and to respond appropriately.




  • Experience using a 2-way radio system would be considered an asset.




  • Knowledge of the City of Red Deer geography and the City organization including bylaws procedures and terminology would be an advantage when responding to calls, both inquiries and complaints. Ability to interpret plans would also be an asset.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. based on 37.5 hours per week.
