POSITION SUMMARY

Reports To: Team Lead, Integrations and Support


CCS Inc. is currently looking for a permanent full-time Senior Database Administrator in our Calgary office.


This role involves being able to analyze and recommend future system platforms and current operating systems. Your strengths include strong technical knowledge of tools, databases and project management experience. Strong hands on experience of implementation of applications and processes for administering and maintaining the core enterprise platform. In addition, this position will be responsible for the design, creation management and maintenance of physical databases, including storage management, procedures, security, monitoring and tuning. Provide strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and train peers, resulting in the continued success in the team/department.


Responsibilities:



  • Planning system capacity and develop expansion plans, evaluate and recommend hardware and system software procurements, assess the impact of new software on existing systems and users and develop modification plans as needed.

  • Calculating data storage media and cost alternatives, specify sources and methods of data storage, plan for efficient allocation of system storage capacity.

  • Identify system/database expansions to meet anticipated future workload.

  • Maintaining data security and integrity by developing system access standards and procedures, evaluating and implementing adequate controls and security measures.

  • Running checks on data integrity plan and execute disaster recovery plans.

  • Provides the necessary assistance in resolving production problems.

Specific Skills:



  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Possesses strong expertise in MS SQL Server 2005, Oracle 9i/ 10g, knowledge of relational database management system design principles, SQL Clustering, performance optimization, data integrity principles, database synchronization techniques and systems utilities, backup and recovery techniques, data replication and warehousing techniques DTS, SSIS, and SSRS.

  • 3 to 5 years program design/development experience in large business applications, 5-7 years for DBA experience preferable in the Oil and Gas/ financial Industry.

  • Has the ability to manage database organization, monitor database system usage and performance, troubleshoot and resolve database problems.

Qualifications:



  • University Degree in computer Science/ Information Technology (or equivalent) with a systems specialization and at least 4 - 5 years progressive and combined systems, DBA and Project Management experience. Relational database design and development certification.

  • Technology diploma in a relevant systems discipline with a minimum of 4 - 5 years progressive and combined systems, Database Administration and Project Management experience, Relational database design and development certification

  • Technical Certificates – MCDBA,OCP MCSE, System Analysis, Project Management

  • Programming/development certification, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), BI certification would be considered an asset.
