Shell is currently seeking a Pipeline and Pressure Equipment Inspector for their Cold Lake, Alberta location.
Responsibilities:
This is a great opportunity for a results orientated experienced Inspector who is looking for a challenging role that offers the opportunity to manage a diverse workload, has input in the decision making process and provides their professional expertise to the site technical team: - Manage/plan/direct/budget (within approved constraints) integrity inspection, and monitoring requirements
- Fulfill regulatory requirements (i.e. communication, documentation) re: equipment, piping and pipeline integrity management programs, inspections & repairs
- Implement integrity management systems and processes. Includes VISIONS database, IPIS development, pipeline integrity management database, preparation of critical equipment and pipeline Integrity Reference Plans (IRP's), inspection data analysis and improvement recommendations
- Troubleshoot failures & provide recommendations based on materials failure analysis and causal analysis
- Perform maintenance & integrity quality assurance duties on assigned assets
- Technical support to site operating and maintenance personnel re: integrity maintenance requirements
- Input to annual budget process for integrity/inspection issues
- Participate as an active member of the EP asset integrity community
- Plan and participate in turnarounds and equipment inspections as required
Individual to be based in the field region office in the site Technical Team. Reporting to the asset Technical Team Leader as part of the site technical team with support from the Head Office - Process Containment Team. The individual will be responsible for executing the pressure equipment and pipeline integrity management programs for the region.
Requirements:
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- No "fly in, fly out" option is offered with this position
- Diploma in Materials, Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering Technology from a recognized Institute
- 5 years experience with pipeline and pressure equipment
- Ability to work closely with site operations, maintenance and technical personnel, as well as Calgary support groups, regulatory contacts, suppliers, and service companies
- Knowledge of corrosion & inspection (e.g. NDE), mitigation techniques, deterioration mechanisms, materials & coatings selection, failure analysis
- Field and plant equipment process and mechanical knowledge
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Basic understanding of fluid mechanics
- Completed or working to achieve API 510/570 and ABSA PESL certification
- Inspection systems: VISIONS pressure equipment and pipeline integrity database
- Understanding of risk/criticality based inspection principles, experience with IRP preparation
- Planning/guidance of contract inspectors, NDE contractors and inspection clerk activities
- Knowledge of ASME pressure piping & equipment and CSA Z662 pipeline industry standards
Working Conditions: Travel Required, Overtime Required; travel to operating locations in the operating region. Occasional travel to other assets to assist for workload levelling may be required. Overtime may be required to support the operation occasionally and during pipeline inspections and Turnarounds.
